Dr. Andreas Kurz

"The person in the center - according to this maxim we work on the care of patients at the highest medical level. Even more unusual refractive-surgical problems are a constant challenge for us, which we gladly face on a daily basis. I have been operating in the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Clinic since 1988 and also take advantage of the high degree of cooperation with my colleagues to provide my patients with the best possible treatment."

After studying human medicine (1977-1983) at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, he trained as a specialist (1983-1988) at the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Clinic under the direction of Professor Dr. Bernhard von Barsewisch and later at the University Eye Clinic under the then head physician Professor Dr. Otto Erich Lund. The focus of the training was in the operative field.

In 1988, Dr. Andreas Kurz took over the ophthalmology practice, which had been in existence since 1954, from his father, Dr. Hermann Kurz, MD. In the same year, he became an attending physician at the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Clinic in Munich.

Since 1988 he has been performing outpatient operations of "cataracts" and "glaucoma" on a larger scale in addition to inpatient operations. Due to constant further training and stays abroad, among others in the USA, he offers the latest surgical procedures.

His special interest is in refractive surgery: in the early 90's the "clear-lens-exchance", quickly followed by astigmatism operations. For years he has implanted toric, bifocal and bifocal-toric artificial lenses in suitable patients, which enable vision without glasses.

Since 2000, he has been performing laser treatment of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism with the excimer laser and, for the last 2 years, with the femtosecond laser.

Another focus of the practice is the eyelid area. Dr. Andreas Kurz has been operating on all types of eyelid tumors and eyelid malpositions since the practice was founded, with a particular focus on cosmetically disturbing "drooping eyelids".

Dr. Kurz is a member of various national and international organizations (AAO, ASCRS, BDOC, BVA, ESCRS, DOG, KRC, MOG).
