The clinic today
Since its foundation in 1895, the Herzog Carl
Theodor Eye Clinic has been a specialised clinic
for eye surgery, with treatment being provided
for patients with private and statutory health
insurance alike.
At Herzog Carl Theodor's time, most of his patients
had to be treated on an inpatient basis and
could spend up to three weeks confined to bed
even after a cataract operation for example.
Things have changed a lot since then.
Today, most eye surgery can be carried out
on an outpatient basis, including cataract operations.
Some patients, however, still have to be treated
as inpatients
This is why the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Clinic
is both: inpatient clinic and outpatient surgery
centre.
The combination of outpatient, day-clinic and
inpatient treatment ensures maximum safety and
convenience for the patient while keeping treatment
costs low.
The eye doctors at the clinic offer the whole
range of operations possible in modern ophthalmology
for eye and eyelid disorders.
