Prof. Dr. med. Klaus G. Riedel has been medical
director of the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Clinic
since 1993. Two years before his appointment
as medical director, Prof. Reidel joined a group
practice with the then clinic director Prof.
Dr. Bernhard von Barsewisch (medical director
from 1978 to1993).
CV data: born on 5 June 1950 in Bergisch Gladbach,
medical studies and doctorate from 1970 to1976
in Kiel and Munich, after a period as a medical
assistant one year of further training at the
Pathological Institute of the Ludwig Maximilian
University of Munich, 1980-1985 ophthalmology
training at the eye clinic of the Ludwig Maximilian
University of Munich under Prof. Dr. O.-E. Lund,
1983 - 1984 two-year scholarship at the Harvard
University of Boston, 1985 habilitation, 1989
professorship, 1985 -1991 senior consultant
at the university eye clinic of Munich.
Prof. Riedel is a member of numerous professional
organisations including the Deutsche Ophthalmologische
Gesellschaft, the American Academy of Ophthalmology
and the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery. He specialises in
cataract surgery, vitreous and retina surgery,
laser surgery as well as plastic and reconstructive
surgery.
